mario

no, i'm not talking about "saved by the bell" although i could if pressed. instead, i'm reflecting both on how much my civ pro teacher resembled mario and how i never ever learned how to play any video games. the only exception is "burger time." ah how i long for the days in helly's basement when my biggest enemies were eggs and pickles... to this day i can sing all the tunes from super mario brothers but would be at a total loss if i were asked to play the game. this lack of confidence in playing has cost me a lot. namely, i'm typing here, tired and somewhat inebrieated while others rock out to FIFA...

i may confine my future children to watching exclusively PBS but never (ever) will i withhold from them sega, nintendo, or PS2.

There is *totally* a guy in my graduate program who is a dead ringer for Mario of Super Mario fame...what a strange coincidence that there are multiple Mario look-alikes in the world :)

two thoughts:
1. do you think they're related?
2. maybe it's like people who own dogs. people say that pet owners (and in particular dog owners) end up looking like their pets. it's this process of taking on similar characteristics or something... i realize that correlation doesn't imply causation and maybe people who look like golden retrievers buy golden retrievers while people who look like chihuahuas decide to buy chihuahuas... anyway, i wonder if these people who so closely resemble mario played a whole lot of super mario bros and grew to look like the character as they played...

maybe. but none of the residents of 4415 look anything like a hamburger.
well, maybe greta did a little.
in which case you've got dogs and video games...hmmm.

residents of 4415 are uniformly ravishing.
i fail to follow the rest of this remark b/c i don't think i ever implied that people were looking like hamburgesas. am i missing something?

if you play a lot of mario, one ends up looking like him.
if you play a lot of burger time... perhaps it has been stretched too far.

ah. now it is crystal clear. perhaps my theory is incorrect or... perhaps it only applies to super mario bros. also, i might be wrong, but isn't the character you embody when playing burger time a human-esque chef? not that the ersidents of 4415 resemble little chefs either but i just thought maybe that would dig mee out of a bit of the hole i find myself firmly in.
